The Pittsburgh Penguins are the 2016 Stanley Cup Champions! They beat the San Jose Sharks in six games to secure Lord Stanley’s Cup for the first time since 2009, seven years ago to the day. This is the fourth championship in Penguins’ franchise history.

The Penguins started the scoring with a Brian Dumoulin goal eight minutes into the first period. After Logan Couture tied it up, the Penguins answered a little over a minute later with a goal from Kris LetangMatt Murray kept the Sharks from reaching the back of the net the rest of the game. A late Patric Hornqvist empty net goal sealed the Sharks’ fate. Sidney Crosby won his first Conn Smythe trophy in his career. He had 19 points through the 2016 playoffs.
